About Us

Earl’s Furniture first opened for business in the summer of 1957 as a furniture and appliance retail store, with just under 2400 square feet of showroom and warehouse space. Owner-operator Earl Chiasson, Sr. started the business with himself as the sole employee. Over the past half century, the store has been expanded several times to its present 18,000 square foot showroom and 13,000 square feet of warehouse capacity. Today, Earl’s has fourteen full and part-time employees working hard to bring south Louisiana quality furniture at a fair price with service long after the sale.

In 1980, Mr. Earl, as his customers and employees affectionately refer to him, purchased Flo’s Baby Lane, his cousin’s handmade baby clothes shop, and moved it into a corner of the original furniture showroom as Earl’s Baby Land. His daughter Diane Monteleone managed the Baby Land for several years and it is now owned and operated by his daughters Janet Dubois and Beth Trahan.

Earl’s has always prided itself on its service. One would be hard pressed for instance, to find a retail furniture dealer in this day and age that will repair a ten year old recliner. Several years ago, a repair shop was added with a full-time repair man, and the appliance division was closed in 2005 to allow for a broader variety of furniture. Over the years various items have come and gone. Clocks and appliances are no longer sold and the famous Holland Grill has been added. Other selections include dining, bedroom, upholstery, desks, bookcases, curios, media centers, accent pieces, artwork, lamps, and bedding - something for nearly every room of your home. All of these changes are in keeping with the philosophy that Earl’s will not sell it if they cannot fix it.

Upon the passing of Mr. Earl, Sr. in 2006, his son Earl Jr. and daughter Janet Dubois have taken over daily operations. Both have decades of experience in the venture their father began long ago, and each carries on the legacy of personal small town service he taught them that so many patrons have come to appreciate. The tradition continues in this, a true family business, with grandsons Andrew Dubois, Jeffrey Dubois, and Adrien Monteleone. Other staff members are: John Hebert, Barry Hebert, Raleigh Bourque, Charles Allen, Charles Corley, Rachel Trahan, and Monica Guillory.
